IIts geographic
situation - set in a huge basin at the intersection
of the vast limestone plateaux of the Causses
- offers all the characteristics of an ideal
site for jumping off into space under the
best security conditions. What more could
you want than these great French canyons with
their 400-meter-high cliffs overlooking magnificent
spaces where you can circle around in the
wind!

In contrast to the Alps, here the meteorological
conditions are very favourable for soaring
away and landing on indicated landing sites.
There are many paragliding schools for beginners
and more advanced levels.
Millau can be very proud of its excellent
sites that attract lovers of all free-flying
sports. No wonder then that Millau has become
the European capital of hang-gliding and parapenting.
The CFA Midi-Pyrénées (Centre
de Formation des Apprentis aux Métiers
du Sport) - sports apprenticeship training
centre - has opened its branch for open-air
sports in Millau. It is quickly becoming a
prime example of how outdoor sports should
be prepared and practised.
