The
watercourses of the Truyere, Lot, Tarn and
Viaur rivers are ideal for producing hydroelectric
energy.
There are 17 dams in Aveyron, feeding 16 power
stations, representing 2580 MW of installed
power. This is equivalent to two generating
units of a nuclear-energy power plant.
You can visit some of these dams and hydroelectric
installations. Dams mean, of course, that
there are vast lakes and reservoirs offering
a wide variety of facilities. You cannot beat
the Aveyron for water sports. With all its
lakes and reservoirs, there are a number of
nautical bases welcoming sports fans and nature
lovers. These centres provide facilities for
canoeing, kayaking, rafting, water-skiing.
