The Age of the Plesiosaurus

In 1986 the fossilised skeleton of a plesiosaurus from Jurassic times was discovered near Tournemire. This gentle marine reptile of the Secondary Era might have grown to five metres in length and would have frolicked in what then would have been an Aveyronnaise sea. To date this is the most complete specimen found in France and would have lived about 180 million years ago. This skeleton is exhibited in The Museum in Millau and is well worth seeing.
