A knight's diploma is entrusted to each child after the "discovery game" which guides you round the fortress. After having crossed the two defences, a model of the château in 1400AD awaits you at the foot of the keep.

Entertainment
The Château Fort (fortified castle) at Calmont d’Olt has been the theatre of many battles during its 900 year long history.

Today, around the Château, catapults throw missiles, cannons boom, men at arms show you their swords, medieval bows and crossbows and explain the secret of how to make a coat of mail.

From the keep, a stone sentry perched on a volcanic peak for 1000 years, to the lower fortified wall with eight towers and 32 arrow slits, the château bears witness to five centuries of architectural development.

How to get there ?

The Chateau de calmont is in Espalion. It is situated in the Lot Valley, at the edge of the Aubrac Mountains. From Rodez, take the road to Espalion and drive 28 km. Free parking.
